WE DID IT! Table Tennis on TOP of the Great Wall of China.
In a world-first, the 50 Sports in 50 Weeks team played the first ever games of Table Tennis ON TOP of the Great Wall of China. It was no mean feat navigating the complicated logistics but the team lived out their long awaited dream to raise the profile of all sports and activities for kids and their grown ups by taking one the world’s favourite games to the people at one of the world’s great iconic locations. Tourists and locals alike marveled at the spectacle and many passers-by were quick to pick up a paddle and join in the fun.
Previously the 50 sports team learned the technicalities of Table Tennis from various European Wheelchair Table Tennis champions at the 2015 #RUHR Games in Germany. That experience further fueled their love for the game and desire to do something exceptional to captivate the imagination of kids and their grown-ups everywhere and hopefully inspire them to get off the couch and into a more active lifestyle.
This feat also marks a special milestone for team leader, Paul Brown, who declared back in 2012 when he first started planning the #50Sports in 50Weeks mission, that the team would “Play Table Tennis on top of the Great Wall of China”. While he had no idea at the time exactly how that dream would become a reality, there was never any doubt it was going to happen exactly how he had seen it.

The #50 Sports team were already on a high, having just had an amazing week at the #Yonex Open 2015 Chinese Taipei Badminton Championships where they learned yet another explosive ball sport and got to hang out with the game’s top ranking superstars.
